Discipleship is not just a ministry in the church. It’s the ministry of the church.
We want our adults (and children) to be transformed by beholding a vision of God high and lifted up as he declares himself to be in his Word; to not be the same, to be changed, conformed to the image of Christ.
As followers of Christ we are commanded to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind (Mt 22:37) and teach others to do the same. Our heart and soul are stirred by the activity of the mind. We are to set our mind on the things of God so that we can know Him in order to love Him. The heart can’t love what the mind does not know. Secondhand knowledge rarely creates firsthand love. We desire our knowledge of Truth to be firsthand knowledge which stirs the soul to love and the feet to obedience. Firsthand knowledge of Truth equips us to discern error.
This describes how we desire to prepare the hearts and minds of those we disciple at GCT.
